Wide Game - June - S.W.A.T II

Last Sunday, we had another Wide Game event at HBC. This time, it's called S.W.A.T II and was going to be held indoors. We were actually trying to guess what we were going to play because it wasn't going to be done outdoors, there was no need for a change of clothes and, uhm... it's called S.W.A.T II... *sweat*

Lo and behold, we arrived to be put on duty to fold "bullets". *gulp*

Our final product. Feel the pain yet?

Before the game, we had a short time of worship, led by HBC.

Hmm... I wonder what the boy in red is doing

After worship, Pastor Amos gathered everyone to line up in 2 straight lines, from the shortest to the tallest...

Suku apparently got confused with the whole lining up process

... and explained the game. It was basically a paintball-esque kind of game, except, it involves rubberbands and folded-up paper bullets. (Basically, if you get hit by a paper bullet, you are "dead".) We were divided into 4 groups and were given a short period of time to fold up more bullets before we went upstairs.

James and David scheming away

Once upstairs, we found ourselves in a battlefield, of some sort, made out of tables and chairs and even a carrom board.

The Battlefield

Oh look! A carrom board! Suku apparently liked it so much, he ran into it... and it fell on him

Pastor Amos giving a more detailed explanation on how to play

We played a few rounds against different teams, each with different objectives - Round 1: The team with the most players left standing; Round 2: The team with the least amount of casualties; Round 3: The team who had the most "kills". Finale: The two teams with the best scores fight it out to see who is the best overall team.

Pocketful of bullets

Getting ready for battle

A battle in progress. I wonder what David is laughing about, though...

Team 1 emerged as the winners of the game after surviving through the many different rounds with all the other teams. Woohoo! After that, we went downstairs and played a free-for-all shootout with our own made bunkers. This time, we had "unlimited" lives, except, once shot, we have to return to our base before we can proceed to shoot again. (I don't think many people followed that rule!)

The last two games had one simple objective: Be the one sitting on the chair in the middle of the room at the end of the game and your team wins. Too bad there weren't any pictures to document it. There was a LOT of pain involved in the last game. A lot of pain...

Wide Game - May - Gold Rush

(What's up with all these late posts?)

Last month, May, we joined HBC for Wide Game again. This time it's called Gold Rush. The idea was taken from the recent movie Indiana Jones. I haven't watched the show yet so i cant tell y'all how it's connected to the game but I'll try to describe it as best as i can remember.

Everyone lining up to be divided into teams.

Everyone was split into 4 teams. Each team have their own base at the four corners of the field. There was the Blue Team, Black Team, Yellow Team and White Team. A team consists of a General and his cronies(captains, soldiers and more cannon fodder). That being said ... the generals were :

Blue Team - Yin Hooi
Black Team - Daniel Goh
Yellow Team - Ted
White Team - James Ho

Yay. All the generals from each team were appointed from FPBC. Whether it'd be for the better or worse ... only time will tell.

All the teams listening intently to Amos on how to play the game.

The game was rather simple :
1) See someone from another team. Start shooting.
2) Loot as much gold as possible. Kill+Steal if you must.
3) Take over your rival's base. Loot their coffers !!! Arrrrrr ~ !!!
4) Try not to die :P

Those are the few things to keep in mind throughout the game. With more money you can buy more powerful weapons of MASS DESTRUCTION when they are made available in each new rounds.

Each team started out with a bucket of water, several water guns and a cup. Since it involved water, everyone was eager to get the game started.

The white team. James was camera shy.

The Blue team. All ready for battle.

Once the game begun, everyone began to mine gold from the gold mine till the mine was depleted. That's where the fun began. Some people were caught on camera as they showed their true colours.

There was no stopping this bull. He charged and shot down any enemy he saw. The moment the battle started, he turned into Frenzy Mode. And this is before he takes a dose of Air Limau. You wouldn't want to be near him when he is on Air Limau.

A story of a girl turned superhero. Look at how brave she is, standing in the face of the villains while the big guy next to her was running away :P "I will save you, Suku!!"

Ted, the Yellow General goes "Muahahahahaahhahahaha~" He must've been taking something that day but it sure wasn't prisoners. That's his personal motto - "Take NO Prisoners !!" Poor Arthur and Sherlene and some little girl behind Sherlene, yes even little girls are not spared, were blasted to smithereens. Some dude in gray tried to save Arthur but this day, the mighty general slain four opponents by himself.

The Generals in a World Summit Meeting to discuss peace treaties .... will never work la ~ The Black General plans to kill the rest of the generals with his handy flour bomb during the summit. And he shall finally RULE THE WORLDDDDDD ~

So the game finally ended. And each team brought forth their wealth to be counted. Some were very rich. Unfortunately one team managed to get all their gold stolen cause their ally betrayed them. I shall not mention names.

Yin Hooi goes "RARRWWWW !!! YEEARRRRGHHHH !!!" when blue was announced the winner. Just like when Bruce Banner turns into The Hulk and roars. RARW ~

Somebody gonna get a hurt real bad. The losing teams were punished with a forfeit. Everyone huddled together in the middle while the winning teams bombarded them with their guns and bombs. They were trapped like rats.

But someone managed to rally the losing teams and they rebelled. Chaos ensues. Some thought it was raining. And thus ... the war began ... again ... ~! What a mess we made. Don't worry. Being good Christians, we cleaned the place up after that.

All in all i'd say it was one of the fun-est game ever. Water, flour, chicks. How can it not be good ? Right, men?

Kenny says "Chill." while Suku says "AHHHHHHHHHHH!"

Wide Game - April - Spiderwick

HBC has been conducting an event called Wide Game on the field in front of their church each month to reach out to the local youths around the area. In April, our youth group decided to join their event. The theme is taken from the movie Spiderwick Chronicles.

We gathered in HBC. Amos, HBC's Youth Pastor, greeting everyone. Welcome Welcome !!
2 groups were formed and each team picked their respective leader to represent them. Mark called out for a challenger. Sukumaran answered that call.

Amos, with his assistant, Malar, tries to explain the game to everyone. Some scratch their head as they look to their fellow teammates for answers. It's okay guys and girls. We'll just learn as we play.

The TEAMS !!!!

The Goblins and the Ogre King.

Faeries, pixies, brownies and all their magical kin.

As the battle for Spiderwick's Chronicles is about to begin. (For the benefit of those who didn't watch the movie, Spiderwick's Chronicles is a book containing all the secrets of the magical folk which the Ogre King is trying to steal. In obtaining this knowledge he will become invincible.)

The Goblins plot their mischief ....

... while the goodly magical folk ...... PRAYS !!!!!

Oh and one more thing ... lets not forget the ever-oh-so-handsome-oh-so-evil .... DINOSAUR !!!! Anyone caught and eaten by this creature will become ....

... depressed ... loose all colour(fade away) ... loose all willpower to live ... no mood ... wallow in a pit of despair ... ending up in the hospital to be revived. Or wallow in a pit of despair. It's really up to the person. Hahaha !!!!! (below is an example of what happens to you when the dinosaur catches you. scary huh?)

So let the games .... BEGIN !!! Suku started off by trying to pick up some chicks. He later told me her name was Yuon Sue and she's Korean.

Yin Hooi ..... was trying to catch any illegal dealings between the players. "Show me what's in your hands," she says. Unfortunately these two were clean, yet she still arrested them and threw them into prison. EVIL !!!!

Suku once again trying to pick up more chicks. "You see that Dinosaur there? I can take 'im out in one blow if you want me to." *flexs muscles* "Just like that."

As you can see ... everyone was quite dispersed on the field. Many lives were sacrificed to steal the book. And many more were sacrificed to protect the book. I think the Dinosaur was brutally murdered so James lost his job.

Finally the game came to an end. We gathered around Amos to hear the results. Keep your fingers crossed, goblins and faeries.

The Magical Folk prevailed by keeping the Book safe from the hands of the evil goblins and their nasty Ogre King. Congrats.

But the evil Goblins still insisted for a picture to be taken to commemorate this event. Smile ~

After that everyone gathered together to take a group picture. HBC and FPBC alike !! We aren't so different after all. Brothers and sisters in Christ.

Hip hip !! Hurrayyyy !! Unfortunately some jumped too fast as usual and some were too heavy to jump. It was a very fun event for all of us. Kudos to Amos for coming up with such an interesting fun game.
