What's Cooking?

As usual we celebrated birthdays for those born in the month last month(September). This time it was Arthur's.

This is not Arthur.

His name is Dylan and he just recently joined our youth group. He's from South Africa. He's really cool and loves to play games. We wanna warmly welcome you to our lil group here.

Now THIS is Arthur.

We had lots of good food and good fun that night. How many of you have watched Iron Chef? Tonight reminded me somewhat of the show Iron Chef where the chefs compete using a special ingredient chosen by the host to see who can best prepare that particular ingredient.

The group was separated into 2 teams competing in 3 games. Each game had it's purpose. The teams played for their ingredients. The winning team receives additional ingredients while the losers ... face their defeat.

And the special ingredient for the night is .............

.......MAGGI MEE !!!!!

UNO-STACK-O~

Our 1st game of the night involved cards. How many of you have played UNO before? I bet almost anyone would recognize the game almost immediately. There are all sorts of different rules for the game. It's a classic.

BUT ....... that's not what we're playing tonight.

Our game involves stacking UNO cards. The team with the highest 'building' wins.

The main event begins. Both teams put in their effort into building a strong base.

As discussions went on as the time ticks away ...

The buildings were artistically re-designed and re-built over and over again.

And finally the losers were had to face their defeat with a forfeit.

BALLOON, BALLOONS AND MORE BALLOONS !!

What can you do with balloons? It's a very interesting question to ponder about as we look into the following possibilities.

We can colour our hands with a balloon.

We can ... worship a balloon.

We can even strum a balloon.

But those aren't really much useful now, are they?

Pose behind a balloon?

Maybe.

Have fun with a balloon? Woo. Ted seems excited~

You can even do the SLAM DUNK !!

Never underestimate the many things you can do with a balloon.

But the most obvious answer is to just go wild ...

... and burst the balloon !!

ROCK, PAPERS, SCISSORS

What is this? It shall be explained in the following compilation of pictures. This was the next game we played. It's simple. It's easy. And it's fun. You just play Rock, Papers, Scissors and if you lose, you EAT. How convenient is that? It's great.

COOKING LESSON 101

Our lady chefs hard at work boiling water and slicing sausages.

Ted showed off his world-class chopping skills. They came in all shapes and sizes. XD

Rusy: Did he just take a picture of me stealing food. Must ... destroy ... evidence ...
Ted: While nobody is looking ... hee hee hee.

It was a fun time working in the kitchen. Not to mention the fun experience cooking in church kitchen. I never knew the stove actually worked. XD

While the chefs were away the mice ... i mean the rest of them were busy playing UNO. Bang !!

Chef I-Mei and Chef Rusy presenting their masterpiece, Tom Yam Maggi Mee.

Chef Ted and Chef Suku presenting their masterpiece, Curry Maggi Mee.

We ate and we survived. So that was good. Yup.

Our birthday boy of the month, Arthur. Happy Birthday, Arthur. And that's a delicious Chocolate Cheesecake he is holding.

It was an awesome end to an awesome night. It was definitely a very fun time for all of us.

Here's To the August Baby~

Warning! Viewer discretion is advised. *oooo ... scary ... not*

Here's a gist of what we did for August birthday celebrations.

We went to Jessica's to celebrate. It is a beautiful place. It's an apartment with a nice view. I think. It was really dark at night. Lol.

We went .... swimming. Well some of us did anyways. Reason is because it was raining a lot and on our way there it was even raining so most of us did not bring our swimming gears. What little faith. But God proved His greatness while we were there. Although it looked as if it was going to rain any minute as the dark clouds gathered around the area, not a single drop of H2O fall. ~ A lesson in faith.

Some people who brought their swimming gears along reasoned that they were going to be wet anyways when they go in the pool so what's a few drops of water. Revelation... ? Hmmm.

An ingenious game by James. Race around the sharp stones he said. Well the next morning everyone woke up with killing feet .... including James. But most of us pretended we were fine. Lol. Those are really sharp stones. I do not recommend walking on it. However feel free to run :)

Some of us played mon-key ... Mun Key ... Mun Yee. She was stuck being the monkey for a very long time due to lazy feet. Suku should be on his knees when he's playing this game. (It's a crime to be too tall ... muahahahaha)

After a fun night of running around and swimming around and monkey-ing around ... we sat down to have some snack. Dominoes. Twisties. Gas drinks and all that is unhealthy. It's great !!!!

The culprits. It's no wonder the food disappeared so fast that night. Hey that may look like me. He may style his hair like mine. He may even dress like me. But that's not me.

Our August baby. Chloe even picked out the cake herself. It was a cheesecake. And she shared it with all of us.

As per custom ... one person shall be "baptized" on this special day. Usually it's the birthday guy/gal. But Adam. He's a brave one. Your sacrifice for your sister shall be remembered ... for as long as she remembers it.

1 ... 2 ... wooosh~

A simple Hike on a simple Day~

On the 17th of August some of us decided that we have too much energy to spare so we went hiking at youth park. The weather was excellent. Praise God for the fine weather.

Some trees never change. I bet lots of you recognise this tree. After all ... it's been there since the 1st time I went to Youth Park. And I'll bet it'll stay there long after too.

We hiked up till level 3. Yes not only games have level. But worry not. Level 3 is not as difficult as it looks in the picture. It's the view. Yes. The view took their breathes away. Look at how energetic Adam still is.

They serve hot drinks and fried bee hoon up there. There's also this weird concoction called the Ginger Al ..... I mean Tea ... Ginger Tea. It has quite the kick as you can see from the look in Kevin's face.

A bunch of gluttons.

Cheers~

Youth hang out day (September 1st)

Initially the youths were thinking of hiking up Number 3 (Penang Hill) but unfortunately many of the youths including Sharon and I couldn't wake up in time. Poor Yinz, Jess and James who had to wait for all of us at the youth park thinking we had fly aeroplane (pang pui kee or also known as broke promise) . Sorry guys. Instead of burning calories we decided to ditch our plan to hike up Number 3 and decided to load our bellies at a Dim Sum restaurant.
